Volunteers

Swim meets, both home and away, require a large volunteer staff. A commitment from the families of swimmers is essential to make the meets run as smoothly and fairly as possible. There are jobs before, during, and after the meets that can put your good talents to use!

When you sign up your swimmers for a meet, you'll need to select a volunteer position for that meet. Many jobs last half of the meet with two time slots. Not all jobs are needed for every meet.

Clerk of Course Helpers - Assist Clerk of Course with organizing swimmers by event and ensuring they are at their appropriate lane at the start of each event.

Concessions Workers – Help run the concessions stand at home meets. First shift arrives early (4:30pm B meet or 6:30am A meet) to help set up table, tents, food, drinks, etc. The second shift stays after the meet to clean up and put equipment, tables, tents and remaining items away. Volunteers take orders, receive payment, and serve food.

Ribbons Guru - Sit at the computer table and use event results to assemble meet ribbons for A meets. Work with the opponent's ribbons guru.

Timers – The best view for the meet!  Three timers in each lane track swimmers' time with a stopwatch that is provided by the team. Records the swimmer’s time on the time card. Training provided by the head timer before the start of each meet. This is an essential volunteer position - we cannot have meets without timers.

Card Runner – Collect cards from lane timers after each race and bring them to the computer table.

DQ Slip Runner - Collect any Disqualification (DQ) slips from Stroke & Turn judges and take them to the referee for review and then to the computer table. This is a B-meet only job.
